Campground Jamboree

On a starry night of July 4th weekend at the Oregon Inlet Campground, NC, Brian and Holly had the fine pleasure of playing music with fiddle player Dick Lamb and wife Lisa. They are from the Shenandoah Valley and compete in many folk music conventions across the western part of NC and VA. Until midnight, we shared songs and stories and enjoyed the sweet melodies of banjo, dulcimer, mandolin, and guitar by Dick and his family. We also ate peach cobbler that Holly's mom made. It was a big hit, thanks mom.

  1. It was so great to have you at our campsite. Thank you for coming by and sharing your arrangements of the traditional songs. It was one of our favorite highlights of our Oregon Inlet trip...that and the peach cobbler...thanks Mrs. Overton. As I mentioned, there is a wonderful little Old Time Music and Dance Festival that you may be interested in. It's called Rockbridge and it's held in Buena Vista Va in September. It is camping only but there is always the possibility of electricity. The old time music jams are awesome here and may help in your research of the genre. Let me know if you are interested or have any other questions about it. Here is the website: Rockbridgefestival.org. Again it was so nice meeting the two of you and playing music. Thanks for the tapes.
